The Peoples Republic of Glam Rock
Paul Francis Gadd, aka British Glam rocker Gary Glitter, is on trial in the Ba Ria Vung Tau Provincial People's Court for molesting two Vietnamese girls. Mr. Glitter pleaded guilty to 54 counts of downloading child pornography in Great Britain in 1997. Bored with molesting British children, Glitter moved to Cuba then eventually Cambodia, where he was expelled in 2002 for trawling for child sex. Glitter moved to Vietnam, about 130km south of Ho Chi Minh City where he applied for permanent resident status. Glitter faces death by firing squad if found guilty. The verdict in the closed trial is expected tomorrow. Glitter is divorced and has 2 children. His other accomplishments include, bankruptcy for back taxes in 1980, an overdose of sleeping pills in 1986, and 3 DUI's. Ironically, one of his most popular albums was titled "Touch Me".
